At Arthur Spriggs & Sons Ltd, we’re proud to be at the forefront of a new era in commercial vehicle maintenance, thanks to our participation in the innovative Maintenance Provision Rating Scheme (MPRS), we’ve embraced this initiative to help bring higher standards, better transparency, and greater confidence to the industry.
What is the Maintenance Provision Rating Scheme (MPRS)?
The Maintenance Provision Rating Scheme (MPRS) introduces a tiered rating system to evaluate workshops on staff expertise, facility quality, customer service, and regulatory compliance. This helps operators select high-quality maintenance services with confidence.
Developed by eleven organisations, including the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE), DVSA, DfT, Traffic Commissioners, Logistics UK, SMMT, RHA, CPT, BVRLA, NFDA, and Daimler Truck UK, the scheme aims to reduce prohibition rates and increase transparency within the industry.
Arthur Spriggs & the Drive for Excellence
We are thrilled to have been actively involved in the groundbreaking 18-month MPRS pilot programme in partnership with Daimler Truck UK. During this time, Arthur Spriggs became a benchmark for what MPRS represents. By aligning with the exacting standards of the scheme, we achieved a Gold rating, demonstrating our commitment to exceptional service across the board.
Our role in the pilot scheme helped shape MPRS criteria, paving the way for consistent industry standards. It’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.
Why MPRS Matters to Operators, Workshops, and the Industry
MPRS offers benefits that resonate across the entire commercial vehicle sector:
For Operators
MPRS introduces clarity and confidence. Fleet managers can now select workshops based on an objective standard, ensuring their vehicles receive high-quality maintenance that prioritises safety and compliance.
For Workshops
By striving for higher MPRS ratings, workshops are incentivised to invest in their workers, facilities, and services. For us at Arthur Spriggs, achieving a Gold rating has strengthened our reputation and reinforced trust among our valued customers.
For the Industry
On a wider scale, MPRS raises safety levels while reducing MOT failures and compliance issues. It promotes a culture of continuous improvement, creating a stronger, more reliable network of workshops across the UK.
Looking Ahead
By 2025, every Daimler Truck dealership in the UK will proudly carry an MPRS rating. This ambitious goal reflects a collective commitment to excellence from Arthur Spriggs, and others who see the value in creating a transparent, high-performing maintenance ecosystem.
The Future of Commercial Vehicle Maintenance
At Arthur Spriggs, we believe that great maintenance is the foundation of a safe and efficient transport sector. Through our participation in MPRS, we’ve demonstrated what’s possible when workshops step up to meet and exceed industry standards.
If you’re a fleet manager or truck owner looking for a reliable partner, consider workshops with an MPRS rating. We’re here to help ensure your vehicles are in the best hands so you can focus on the road ahead.
